Welcome to Tachlis!!! What is Tachlis? First of all it's REAL information - no I'll take that back. If it was just information then it could be presented in any form - in a brochure, a guide book, even in a speech. You wouldn't need the Internet. It is more than real information... Aliyah is probably the most difficult decision you will make. It involves emotional, financial and often career sacrifices, all for an ideal. Then you wonder when you get here why you aren't welcomed with open arms. Somewhere, in spite of all the difficulties, there are a few thousand courageous people - and I don't use the term lightly - a year, who decide to leave their families, their jobs, and the life they have known. To leave, not due to fear -- physical or otherwise, but because they believe in a higher ideal. Most of us did not come to Israel with family in place. We didn't have an extended family here that would rent apartments for us, find us jobs or explain how to get around the ubiquitous bureaucrats, which seem to go out of their way to make our lives miserable. All we have are ourselves. That is the real Tachlis. We are a dialogue, a shoulder to lean on, a garin (nucleus) which exists because we hold on together. Tachlis people are totally diverse in background, politics and belief . Simply put, Tachlis is all of us. The success of Tachlis, if people think it's successful, can only be through each of you who contribute. So what is Tachlis? The bottom line - it is a family. Welcome...
